What is the difference between private and state university?
Education in all of the private universities is not free of charge. The educational costs depend on the preferable specialty and funds, which are at university’s disposal. State universities are financed from the country’s budget and they are free of charge for the polish citizens. Meanwhile, foreign students should pay for their education. That is why the costs depend on the university and the specialty one selects.
What is needed to attend the educational course which is in Polish?
Speaking polish is compulsory in the beginning of study. Before the university starts, one should provide a certificate as to passing polish course on B2 level. In case of insufficient polish language skills, fee-based courses are offered by the university.
A chance to get a grant and study for free.
Free education is possible only by availability of residence permit (in polish “Karta Polaka”), which equals You in rights with polish students. In this case the entry requirements are the same and entrance exams passing is on the general basis. Having “Karty Polaka” you have a right to receive a social scholarship.
Which certificate of degree (diploma) do You receive afterwards?
As soon as You graduate from polish university, You get an European diploma, which is accredited in Europe and most all of the world countries, including CIS states, which gives You more job opportunities.
Education in English.
Almost in every educational establishment there are programs, the education of which is in English. The costs of education in English is twice expensive, as in polish. At the time of entry into the university you should submit a certificate of English knowledge or pass an appropriate test.
Can one change the specialty after entrance into university?
During applying to the university one can choose the field of study, but forming a group of students according to the specialty is after the first semester or the first year only. It is possible, that a student can change the branch of study and a faculty during the first semester as well as a specialty within a year.
MA course in universities of Poland.
The students, who own bachelor’s degree or do have the degree of master but still want to learn the other specialty do have a possibility to enter magistracy (MA course) without entrance examination. You should only provide the bachelor’s diploma for that. The exception is the faculties with single MA course, such as law, psychology and some others, which do receive the engineer diploma.
The opportunity to work during education.
After entering a university it is allowed for students to work. Each student has a desire of financial independence, this is why most of them are seeking for jobs. Most of them are foreigners, as they want to get used to the country and learn it better. Living in dormitory or renting a flat.
The students of polish universities can live in dormitories or if one has a possibility, he can rent a flat. The dormitories are situated not far from university. To rent a flat costs about 150-250 euro for a person per month. The price depends on the location of the flat as well as its comfort and standard. One privilege of the flat is that the student feels himself more comfortable there.

According to the document of enrolment the student into the university, an adult foreign passport is in demand for under age students.
Extension from military service.
Every student, who received confirmation about enrolment to university of Poland has an opportunity to receive an extension from military service during the studying period. One can ask for this document two month before the university year begins. This is about both stationary and part-time education.
Residence permit (Karta Pobytu).
Karta Pobytu is a residence permit, which certifies the identity of foreigner in Poland. You can receive temporary residence permit for Poland while providing the following documents, which confirm the long term of Your legal stay in the country (more than 6 months).
What is PESEL?
This is the number our of 11 figures, under which the person is registered in multi-purpose electronic system of population registration. The Pesel number can receive the persons, who live in Poland temporary (more than 3 months) or all-time.
What is apostille?
An apostille is the document, which confirms the originality of educational documents and is issued by Ministry of education and science to the citizens, to which country they belong.
What is nostrification?
It is a document, which confirms originality of a foreign educational document as an equal to polish and is issued by local educational authority in Poland.
Meals
Students buy food products mainly at supermarkets. Corporate stores do always have a big variety of goods and prices for the products are considerable lower. In such a way the students can save their money and time. The student receives about 80-120 euro per month. The food is not so expensive at students’ dining rooms as well as at some public eating spots.
Transport
Public transport infrastructure is well in operation in the cities of Poland. You can easily find per minute timetable of the bus or tram on each station. As well one can check the website www.jakdojade.pl where there are all timetables for each public transport available. There is a Wi-fi service available in every city bus or intercity train in case if anybody needs internet.
